APTOS-LIFT

SOFT LIFT OR THREADS FACE-LIFT

(THE RUSSIAN STITCH LIFT)

SOFT LIFT OR THREADS FACE-LIFT

(THE RUSSIAN STITCH LIFT)

This technique is now the simplest way of performing a facelift and was first described in Russia by Dr. Sulamanidze. This is a limited procedure characterized by subtle changes with a very short recovery time (between 3 to 5 days in most of the cases).

Aging of the face is inevitable. As the years go by, the skin begins to loosen on the face and neck. Crow´s feet appear at the corners of the eyes. Fine lines become creases and then, gradually, deeper folds. The jawline softens into jowls at the edges of the mouth, and beneath the chin, another chin or vertical folds appear at the front of the neck.

The following information is strictly the opinion of Dr. Gomez-Mendoza and pertains to the APTOS-Lift and other cosmetic procedures of the face as performed by him.

There is no ideal in a Facelift. Rather, the goal is to improve the overall facial appearance. Skin type, ethnic background, degree of skin elasticity, individual healing and basic bone structure are factors affecting the final results. This procedure is sometimes performed on patients in their thirties, and successful surgery has been performed on patients in their sixties. An APTOS-Lift cannot stop aging. What it can do is help your face look its best and give you a look of health and more youthful appearance in a very short recovery time.

The overall effect will be more successful if additional changes are made in the chin and neck areas through other facial surgery. Many patients decide to have facial liposculpture to remove excess fatty deposits at the same time. If several flaws need correction, more than one procedure may be necessary for the best overall result. If the patient presents a significant amount of sagging or redundant skin then we will offer another kind of facelift to obtain an excellent result. The effects of the skin tightening using the APTOS threads last at least three years.

Where will your APTOS-Lift be performed?

Although Dr. Jesús Gómez Mendoza has been granted staff privileges at most of the local hospitals and outpatient surgery centers, he performs most APTOS-Lifts procedures at his own operating room beside his office when is the only procedure to perform or at the modern Puerta de Hierro Medical Center. Rest assured that you'll receive the finest care available.

What type of anesthesia is used?

Dr. Jesús Gómez Mendoza performs most APTOS-Lifts under sedation some patients refer to this as "twilight" type anesthesia (gentle, short-acting medication is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist to insure comfort and security for our patients) plus local anesthesia. Patients are under monitored anesthesia care since they arrive to the operating room till they leave the recovery area; ensuring that you receive the safest care possible. The expert care you deserve. Our patients recover more quickly and with less discomfort than when general anesthesia is used.

In some cases even the local anesthesia itself may serve as the sole means of anesthesia providing sufficient comfort during the procedure in a very cooperative patient.

About the surgery…

The sagging of tissue of your face is carefully assessed to determine which areas of the face and/or neck are to be treated. Under anesthesia a special suture thread with microscopic cogs, which hook onto the underside of the skin are implanted through small incision points which are about 1millimeter in size. Careful implantation, and tightening of these sutures takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

After the surgery…

Immediately following the procedure there may be a minor bruising and swelling which will settle down in days following the surgery. It takes up to three months for the desired firmness and tightening of the face to occur, due to the formation of fibrous and collagen tissue which occurs around the threads.

What other procedures can be combined with this?

This will depend upon the amount of drooping on your face, and the condition of your skin.

We may advise that this procedure is carried out in conjunction with:

  • Blepharoplasty (Surgery of the eyelids).
  • Liposculpture of the neck.
  • Fillers (Usually fat from your own abdomen , or Cymetra ).
  • Laser resurfacing of the skin (Erbium laser), which not only vaporizes fine lines, but also shrinks excess skin.
